I found this hardcover at a local Savers thrift shop. It's the 19th collection of the best stories from "Fantasy and Science Fiction" magazine, and includes a nice variety of tales - and some entertaining Gahan Wilson cartoons. Among my favorite stories:
The moody, enigmatic "Longtooth" by Edgar Pangborn, featuring a very uncomfortable encounter.
"Calliope and Gherkin and the Yankee Doodle Thing" by Evelyn E. Smith, an interesting look at adolescence and several different types of aliens.
Larry Niven's "Get a Horse!", an amusing spin on "be careful what you wish for" - here, involving some minor confusion on the part of a greedy politico as to what kind of universe his scientists are fetching creatures from.
"Benji's Pencil" by Bruce McAllister deals with some unnerving possibilities re cryogenic suspension.
