Taken from the bookbox. I went through a period where I read quite a lot of Lois Duncan's work, but I don't think I've ever read this one.

This was an okay read, but definitely not one of Duncan's best. The twist seemed pretty obvious to me, and that mucked up a lot of the tension. I also had trouble believing our main character would be so gullible and go along with Brad for so long before looking for help.

I did like the multiple POVs, and I generally enjoy Duncan's straightforward writing. It was also well-paced, which went a long way towards making the story readable when the plot was wobbly.

I'm claiming this paperback from the Halloween bookbox. I enjoyed Duncan's I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Later: This might be a more enjoyable read for someone who hasn't been reading psychological suspense for decades {wry grin}. As it is, I found the big reveal to be less than startling - and I was also a bit taken aback at having a stalker and kidnapper depicted with so much sympathy. I *could* (almost) see Tracy getting caught up in the urge to help the charismatic stranger with his dramatic quest, but boy, does this go off the rails!
