This is one of the books I chose from the 3 for £5 selection in the Bookwise bookshop in Bewys-y-Coed during a lovely week in a holiday cottage on Anglesey.
I was drawn by the cover description of a thriller set in Venice in 1749, a time, place and genre that I couldn't resist . . . . but with my fingers crossed that it doesn't prove too thrilling for me!

Murder and mayhem in 18th century Venice, which all got rather exciting and very thrilling. I thoroughly enjoyed it and have already added the sequel to my wish list!

A trade with Bookfrogster, thanks for sharing Nu-knees, hope it reaches Scotland safely!
Very pleased to receive this from the excellent Millycat, who also included yarn (hurray!), a big bar of chocolate (yum!), a Christmas card and a lovely letter in a wonderful parcel. You really made my weekend. Thank you!
Also very timely as I've been reading donna Leon's Brunetti series so am immersed in Venice. :-)

This was a really interesting read after me being immersed in modern day Venice for the last wee while. I felt it gave a really good flavour of the city and I enjoyed the interactions between the various characters, good and bad. I also learnt some things, eg the origin of the word zany! It's not any wishlists so I might save this one for a bookbox.
Picked up at Edinburgh meet up ! Love a good historical crime story !
Good read set in Venice of 1749, you could almost feel and smell it, it was very well researched. I also enjoyed learning about the differences of Italian ( which I have been trying to learn via Duolingo for a few years) and Venetian. The characters were believable and interesting and I still do wish to visit Venice at some point in the future
