this book has something of the young-adult feel to it, but it also there are deaths, and a bleak situation with a harsh future. The joys and dangers of imagination, I guess. For once, the questions for the reading club were interesting, and they could lead to a deep animated discussion. In the minus side, I think that the main character is already too childish for his age - children do not believe in Santa at 12, especially when they come from abusive homes.

It's well written, that's for sure, and all in all, I would strongly recommend it.
