I usually like McPhee's books, but this one was kind of a slog, and I have not been able to figure out why. The geologist he profiled was interesting (Anita Harris), the Appalachian region's geology is interesting, the different theories behind the formations are interesting...but I was forcing myself to keep going, & finally gave up.
I'm going to give this another chance - I had it in a non-fiction VBB, but no takers, so was going to wild-release it. BUT I opened it randomly & the page was interesting, so back on my shelf it goes!
