Journal Entry 1 by JessicaEby from Cambridge, Ontario Canada on Saturday, May 11, 2019
I haven't read The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle in a long time; I got this copy from a charity shop in Orillia, Ontario with the intention of sharing it. Here are my thoughts from when I first read it:

I liked the style in which this book was written, and it was an interesting read. It's a high-seas adventure story centring on a Victorian girl. I actually learned a thing or two about sailing/seamanship while reading this! All of the "extra stuff" at the back can be very helpful for those (like me) who have little to no knowledge of such things.

The book's ending made me kind of sad, but it was happy in a way too. I didn't so much agree with the politics of the narrator, but as it's supposed to be an American girl telling the story, I can see how (and expect that) we'd have some differences in that department! Anyhow, I can definitely see how this book made the Newbery Honour list. I do recommend it, and I hope that its next reader enjoys it!

I am eager to see what's in store for this copy :)

Released 4 yrs ago (8/10/2019 UTC) at The Scuttlebutt Tap & Eatery in Stevensville, Ontario Canada

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

I released this book tonight on the Scuttlebutt's book exchange shelf.

I've passed by the Scuttlebutt a lot of times coming and going from Crystal Beach (an annual day/weekend trip), and I've always liked the name and wanted to stop in some time... and tonight it worked out! My husband and I stopped in for dinner on our way down to the beach for the night, and it was awesome! I was also really excited to find a book exchange shelf on the covered patio; it was the perfect place to leave the nautical themed book that I was planning to leave somewhere at the restaurant anyway! I left it on the top shelf, just below the metal ship.

If you've found this book, thanks for picking it up and checking out its journal! If you're new to bookcrossing, welcome. We'd love it if you'd stick around with us a while. I really hope that you enjoy both this book and the whole bookcrossing experience!

This book was released as part of the 2019 "52 Towns in 52 Weeks" Release Challenge. I have actually surpassed my 52, but I have continued on-- Stevensville was Town #54 for me!
