I really enjoyed the narrative style of this book, as it's told by the different characters in interviews and jumps between viewpoints constantly. However, it did make it difficult to connect with the characters as a result.

With thanks to DoubleDay Canada for the complimentary copy of this book.

I give this a 3.5 stars or, a 7/10. I liked this book. I enjoyed the oral-history style of writing, it was unique and interesting to see how different people (ahem -- characters!) viewed the same events through different lenses. But this is one time when I think I might have liked it even more had I listened to it on audio rather than reading it. I've heard the audio version is excellent.

There were bits inside the story where characters were discussing their marriage, and in one instance, the Camila character is talking about trust in her marriage. This might have been the best bit in the book -- I adored the Camila character. I was so glad she and Billy stayed together to the end.

I actually didn't like Daisy. But maybe that was because Daisy Jones was presented to us through her own lens, and Daisy Jones didn't much like Daisy Jones either. Or maybe its just because I don't like show-off, entitled, self-centred people, even when they are fictional.

All that being said, it was a fascinating look at song-writing, rock and roll, relationships and 70's pop culture and it is entertaining as all get-out. I'm betting somebody makes a killer movie out of it. Definitely worth the read.
