I found this softcover in this lovely new Little Free Library in Amherst NH while dropping off some books of my own. (The new mini-series "The Spanish Princess" might spark interest in Katharine of Aragon, though that series isn't based on Plaidy's novel.)

I've read a number of histories of the Tudor era, and my views of Katharine of Aragon have shifted the more I learned about her. (I wonder how things might have turned out if she'd had a surviving son - or if Henry had simply opted to make Mary his heir; would Mary have been a better queen if she hadn't suffered so much personal trauma growing up? There's also the question of what might have happened if Katharine had agreed to be set aside without fuss - not that she owed that to anyone, but it might have prevented the break with Rome that caused so much havoc in the kingdom and in her own heart.)

I left this book in the Little Free Library on this beautiful day; hope someone enjoys it!
