I've enjoyed other works by this author, including the marvelous anthology At the Mouth of the River of Bees, and wanted more. Got this softcover from Amazon. It's an homage to Lovecraft's Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath and other works, but with Johnson's own sensibilities. She places her middle-aged-professor heroine in the dream-worlds of Lovecraft's imaginings, and I was pleased to see familiar characters (good, bad, uncertain, and/or terrifying) there, but Vellitt's perspective is a refreshing change from that of most of Lovecraft's protagonists. I found the conclusion surprising but quite satisfying, and as always with Johnson's writing, I enjoyed being immersed in her world.

I left this book in the Little Free Library inside the Salem police department (and next to the bins of Toys for Tots!); hope someone enjoys it!
