Possession is an exhilarating novel of wit and romance, at once a literary detective novel and a triumphant love story. It is the tale of a pair of young scholars investigating the lives of two Victorian poets. Following a trail of letters, journals and poems they uncover a web of passion, deceit and tragedy, and their quest becomes a battle against time.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Released as part of Greenbadger's monthly giveaway. Hope you enjoy it.
I'm not sure if books like this have any reason to exist, if they are masterpieces or a pile of sh*t.
These post-modern, meta-fiction or whatever they are called books, often seem like exersises on prose and writting styles and like shouts of self-admiration on their authors' part. "Look what I can do here and how much knowledge I have on different subjects! Did you notice how accuretely I can imitate the way Victorians wrote their poems and letters? Do you see how much I know on this era and of the academic world in the 1986 too? Isn't it amazing how I placed a story within a story, where more stories exist within the stories? How nicely I connected all characters of the book at the end! Did you notice the symbolism and inspiration and connotations of my book in relevance with works from Victorian and other authors? Am I not greatly smart and talented?"
The novel has some interest at the very start and the very end, although the characters and their behavior, especially the 1980s characters, feel completely artificial and surreal. The story of the 1800s is interesting too, but all these details and references and citations on the fictional journals and poetry and epistolary communication of the characters is very tiring...
This book is a monster of 500+ pages, leaving a bittersweet aftertaste... If it was another book, focusing on the plot and characters rather than on mannerisms, writting styles and various academic analysis,it would be much more accessible to an averrage reader. At least if it was shorter... As it is now,I don't know......

Journal Entry 5 by Delphi_Reader at Ανταλλακτική βιβλιοθήκη - book swapping shelf in Ilioupoli - Ηλιούπολη, Attica Greece on Saturday, January 11, 2020
That's a surprise, a BC book in the swapping box of Ilioupoli !!! Of course, I could not resist catching it, no matter the size of my TBR mount. Thank you Delphi Reader, you made my Sunday a shiner day 🙂
I surprised myself by reading this book up to the end and enjoying it in spite of the complicated text and the sometimes barely understandable Victorian style poems. But here are a suspenseful quest and a love story beautifully written. I am really happy I had the opportunity to read it, it was worth trying.
