I got this hardcover in this Little Free Library on Dana Rd. in Reading MA while dropping off some books of my own. Set in Venice in 1592, it's about Donata, a younger daughter in a noble house, whose fate is to be kept sheltered from the world until she's old enough to go into a convent. She... is not happy about this, and longs to see the world as her brothers do, so she pulls a "Sweet Polly Oliver" and attempts to do just that. There are some interesting plot twists here, and lots of scenes of life in Venice in the late 16th century. And there are some surprisingly hopeful developments!
