One more to be filed under guilty pleasures. The book definitely has some very strong points along with a few minor inconsistencies. I really liked the feeling of dread some scenes carry - but not the regular "now you're supposed to be scared, incoming jump scare in 3.. 2.. 1..", but a very intense anxiety accompanied by rationalization. Along with the feelings of guilt and the ever-present theme of deception, Isa carries assorted flaws that turn her into a believable (although not always likable) character. And I'd like to mention one more thing I haven't run across in a suspense novel in quite a while - the characters are easily distinguishable, well built and with identities of their own.
