My Jane Austen Summer

After Lily Berry loses her mother, gets dumped by her boyfriend, and is fired, she finds in her passion for all things Jane Austen (Jane, indeed, is Lily's imaginary friend) an escape route: she travels to England to participate in a Jane Austen re-enacting festival. Full of enthusiasm—but not acting talent—Lily is not embraced by many of the Janeites, but this doesn't prevent her from meeting a charismatic actor, contending with an impossible roommate, and struggling with dark family secrets, all while trying to find the courage to be the protagonist of her own story.
Maybe I'd like this book more if I were a Janeite, as I will likely enjoy some story parallels and references that are lost to me now. I find this book as a romance rather slow going, and the characters not very engaging. Also, it's a bit freakish to have a Jane Austen as your invisible friend...
Bringing this to the Mainz BC Con for Rochester74. I don't know if you've read this one, and hope you'll enjoy it, but don't feel obliged to take it home and read through it. : )

How wonderful and lovely to think of me. Yes this book was not on my wishlist, but still it is exactly the right book for me.
Thank you very much :-)

Reading this book I had to think of Sense and Sensebility more often. First I thought she was Elenor who is in love with a man secretly engaged to another woman, then I thought she was more like Marianne who throughs herself onto a man who is playing with her. Poor Lily, she got the worst out of all the characters.
I had fun reading this book anyway. Thank you bringing it my way :-)
