Sixpence House
3 journalers for this copy...

I find myself with 2 copies of this book so this one will be released at our next meetup.
What you have in your hands is an honest-to-goodness gift, no strings attached. You may keep it forever and ever, pass it on to a friend, or release it into the wild like I did.
If you are new to BookCrossing and find this book and this site, welcome! Enjoy the site, the book and hopefully the BookCrossing community. I hope you'll join BookCrossing (it's free!) and if you do, please consider using any previous reader of this book, or me, jessibud, as the member who referred you. Or you may remain anonymous!
If you are an old hand at BookCrossing, thanks for picking up the book! Either way, I hope you'll journal so all the previous and future readers can track this book's journey. Thanks, and happy Crossing!

'Picked up at our meetup yesterday. I will give it a try! (Next stop: either back to HH Pub, next meetup, or LFL.)

I only took a cursory look at this book, and now I am thinking it's going to include Hay-on-Wye - which of course, is every UK Bookcrosser's favourite town in England! That makes me want to read this book even more.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Dear Finder of this book: You have found a free "travelling" book, registered on Bookcrossing.com. What is Bookcrossing? It is a world-wide book lover's group. It is basically geo-caching for books. It is free, anonymous and aims "to make the whole world a library". It also fosters a love of reading by leaving free books in public places. Please take a moment to make a Journal Entry (see label inside the cover) so we know it's been found. When you are done with the book, "set it free" and help its journey continue.

I LOVE books about books :)

I think jessibud had told me she couldn't get into this book, when she saw me pick it up at the meetup...but being the sucker I am for books about books, I picked it up anyway.
I can't say it's a great book. It was a pleasant diversion, and to be honest, I had never heard about the town of Hay-on-Wye and it is now on my bucket list of places to visit!
It was an odd juxtaposition of family anecdotes and bookish esoterica. Individually I enjoyed both sides, but it felt like I was jumping back and forth between two different books. I think the muddling of the two was not done well, I would have happily read a memoir about Paul Collins and his family's time in the UK where they just happened to live THE book town. I would have loved a little book of anecdotes about the bookstores in Hay-on-Wye and the uniqueness of the second hand book business. In one book? It just didn't work for me.
