Auguste Escoffier was a renowned French chef and restaurateur who greatly influenced the way we eat today. In this story, it tells of his love for two women: the goddess-like Sarah Bernhardt and his wife, the poet Delphine Daffis, whom he won in a gamble.
This story is richly written. As a foodie I love how the author describes the cooking and the food, making it so lavishly sensual I regret not being there at the scene to enjoy the food. As for the characters, she succeeds in painting a picture of each tormented in their own imperfection and regrets.
This book is reserved for Travelina at the BC Con in Mainz.
