Crossing Midnight: A Map of Midnight
4 journalers for this copy...

I have another copy of this in my TBR pile bit it seems to have been eaten by my house. So, I am picking this copy up to read more of the series as I really enjoyed vol. 1

This is the continued story of the twins Kai and Toshi after their separation. Toshi has had her memories taken from her by Aratsu who sliced through Toshi with a special sword, cutting away both her past and future and is working as a scape-grace. Kai travels from Nagasaki to Tokyo to look for Toshi. Here he meets some teenagers who are involved in exchange dating. A form of teenage prostitution. The girls that Kai befriends have become the targets of a yoki who is supposed to protect the innocent, but is mad that these young girls are giving away that young innocence. Kai uses his powers as a favorite of the red dragon named Lord Rinjin who is the mortal enemy of Aratsu.
I am continuing to enjoy the fantasy/horror aspects of this series. Book #3 is up for reading next!

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Adding into my Manga and Graphic Novel Book Box

I'm claiming this and two other "Crossing Midnight" books from the Manga and Graphic Novel bookbox (bookbox journal here).
Later: Picking up after the events of Cut Here, things get busy, as Toshi - now working for the lord of knives - wields a pair of magical scissors to steal memories from people. (She's lost her own as part of her bargain, so she doesn't remember her twin brother Kai or their parents; memories and their loss or restoration seem to be a key part of the story, with the pain they may cause begging the question of whether it's better to just forget...
Meanwhile, Kai has made a bargain of his own in an attempt to find and rescue his sister. But will his alliance with a foe of the lord of knives lead to disaster?
Lots of new characters here, some of them really intriguing, such as the "Lady Boss" in the homeless encampment, with her army of big tough dykes. (Despite their rough backgrounds and harsh life, they seem to have the most generous hearts of the entire cast.) And the variety of yokai that appear is truly impressive, some amusing but most terrifying...
The story concludes in The Sword in the Soul.
[There's a short TV Tropes page on the comic, with some entertaining tidbits.]
