A Malayan Trilogy

This is the story of a teacher who works in the Britishe Empire Malayan colonies. He is not an innocent person: he realises the injustice and exploitation that is taking place. This book, which includes the three part in the series is a book which describes the fight for independence from both sides. As I said, the main character is already disenchanted from the beginning - he wakes up drunk, walks around naked or dishelved, and pretty soon the reader learns that, in spite of being married a second time, he feels extremely guilty of having killed his first wife, even though he had been cleared of all charges.
