The Education of Will

I've enjoyed many of McConnell's books and regularly recommend her training guides to folks struggling with their dogs, so I was excited to read something in a very different vein. Some of this reminds me of The Other End of the Leash but is generally of a more somber, reflective tone. It blends typical memoir history with an exploration of the effects of trauma and emotional learning.
It is, understandably, intense, and I would probably recommend reading it while in a steady state of mind, since McConnell's depictions of frightening events are vivid and gut-deep. I do think it is a book that could be an important read for folks looking to grasp the damages of trauma to both humans and other animals.

Added to the Feminism/Girl Power bookbox. McConnell definitely counts as a badass woman in my book!
