I really enjoyed this! I was also pleased to see that Ms. Child shared my politics, describing Nixon as "loathsome." She was solidly against Joe McCarthy in the '50s. For those who saw the movie Julie and Julia with Amy Adams, the scene where Paul Child (who was in the Foreign Service) was called to Washington and asked if he was communist and homosexual (among other things), really happened.

I've never read any of her cookbooks, but in this one she reveals a great writing style and a wonderful sense of humor.
