I enjoy reading about the young Sherlock Holmes, such a well-known and beloved character. It is interesting to get a backstory for him. Tromping around Victorian London is great fun, as well, and is why I have come back to these novels. I have previously read the first in the series, Eye of the Crow, and the second, Death in the Air. For no other reason than I happened to find book number five (The Dragon Turn) at a Scholastic book sale, I jumped passed books three and four (The Vanishing Girl and The Secret Fiend, respectively). Of the three I have read, I found this to be the weakest of the bunch. Not to say that it was a bad read, not at all, just that I thoroughly enjoyed Eye of the Crow, and Death in the Air was not quite as enthralling, but the Crystal Palace is such a great setting, that it was enjoyable, none the less. I look forward to reading the final book in the series, though sad to see it will be Shane Peacock's last, Becoming Holmes.
I'll be leaving this book in the Counselling Centre of my school, Kwantlen Park Secondary.
