My sister bought me this after I read black boy. It's hard to contemplate that less than 100 years ago black people were treated in this way. Yet we mustn't forget, because forgetting allows bad behaviour to gain a foothold and in turn that bad behaviour worsens into violence. Those of us who have power (white, western, with a comfortable amount of money) must keep fighting, but we must also listen.
