A Pratchett I don't know yet - and it's even a Sam Vimes story, hooray!
"Viele Grüsse aus Berlin"? hm ...
"Viele Grüsse aus Berlin"? hm ...
This is the 39th novel in the Discworld series, the ninth (and last) City Watch story.
Sam Vimes may be the Commander of the City Watch, may command his men around, even Nobby Nobbs or Detritus the golem - but at home he is somewhat powerless. When his wife decides that he is in need of vacation, he knows better than to put up a fight. Vimes worships Lady Sybil, and thus, one day, he leaves the Watch in the care of Captain Carrot and sets out with Sybil, little Sam and Willikins, the trusty butler and bodyguard to the Ramkin's countryside mansion.
As it happens when a copper goes to holidays: the crime will surely follow him. Vimes soon finds a dead body. It's a goblin. Which are considered vermin by everybody, but nevertheless ... it's murder! Or isn't it? Vimes cannot tolerate it. On his land! Ok, his land by marriage, but nevertheless ...
When he meets a goblin girl who plays the harp in an extraordinary talented manner, his decision is made. Goblins are not just stinking vermin, they must be granted rights like dwarves, golems, werwolves and other humanoids. To kill a goblin is murder and must be treated as such! Of course Vimes pursuits (and finds) the killer, and also discovers who is behind it all. Somebody who abducts and enslaves goblins, produces troll drugs and trafficks them under the cover of tabacco trade ...
A thrilling lecture, not only a postulation of equity for minorities, but a real crime story as well.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
