A book about heart transplants, the death penalty, miracles, religion, a lawyer who is unhappy with her weight, raising a lot of moral problems. It didn't really engage me, perhaps because I realised very early on the truth behind the murder so was disappointed when it turned out I was right.
A question of British English - there is a little play on words between the US meaning of knocking someone up and the British meaning, however she gets the context wrong. If you knock on a door and wake someone up, you are knocking them up. But if you wake someone up by making noises in the shower, then you wake them up. So that whole passage was ridiculous, and irrelevant anyway.
This edition has discussion questions at the end, an interview with Picoult about her research, and a chapter of the following book.
