This is one of the two books I bought in the Age UK charity shop in Starbeck this afternoon. I'm not sure why I chose it - there was just something about the cover art that appealed!

Throughout their lives together, Emily and Robbie have been hiding a great secret, a secret so secret that when Robbie's in the early stages of dementia, he commits suicide rather than risk revealing it inadvertently as his condition worsens. For most of the book I suspected that when the secret which had such a build up was finally revealed it would prove to be a damp squib - but I'm pleased to report that it wasn't as 'Oh, is that all?' as I'd feared!
The story's told in reverse order, starting in Maine in 2016 and working backwards to 1990, the 1970s in Florida, and England in 1962, before ending briefly back in 2016.
I thoroughly enjoyed it, despite the huge implausibility at its heart (no details, no spoilers!)

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

To my friend and neighbour, BookCrosser Blower - enjoy!

Well over a million people around the world give their books a unique BookCrossing IDentity number (BCID) before sending them out to find new readers. Since the start of the scheme in April 2001 over twelve million such books have been put into circulation. This is one of them!

Our hope is that we can track the progress of our books once they've left our hands - and that's possible if finders like you visit the website, key in the BCID and leave a comment, however long or short. It's fun, it doesn't have to cost anything, although the site always appreciates donations towards running costs, and you can remain anonymous if you wish. You don't have to join but if you do you'll be able to number and track your own books!

From my friend and neighbour Nu-Knees.
I've had this for well over a year. a pre-covid book.
I'm not sure why I decided to read it now as I already had a book ready to read.
I think I had started it earlier but was put off by the start. It looked as though it would be about a dementia sufferer.
I'm glad I kept going this time. I really enjoyed this unusual reverse story.
I did have to keep track of times and events.
Having got to the end and the secret, I had to go back and read the beginning again.
A good read.
