I read this as part of my book club.
Very nice book, good story, well told, a nice plot with some good character development and a few twists and turns. Humanity makes a new mathematical discovery, which will unlock many technological advancements, however, we are not yet ready for this next evolutionary step, so an alien life form steps in, to kill the person who made the discovery (and anyone who may know about it). Initially the alien does not empathise with humanity, however, after some time passes and after many interactions with various humans, he discovers humour, music, culture, our social etiquette, love, etc and changes his mind about humanity and his mission. Highly recommended.
