Meh. I abandoned this one pretty quickly. I was not super impressed with the first couple of chapters and it was shaping up to be one of those fluff novels where the characters can't decide the century in which they're speaking or the author takes three sentences to describe the details of pushing open a door with one's fingertips.

Lizzie and Isabel's ages don't seem to match their timeline. If Fellsworth was school for girls who don't have anyone else to take care of them then why had they been there "for years" when their father had only died two years before and has had at least one other wife in the time that Isabel would have been in school? This is weird for now...highly HIGHLY (did I mention highly?) improbable for that era.

Chapter four: "Her pulse quickened in an intricate mixture of uncertainty and excitement." Nope. Can't do this.

I'm setting this aside for the General Literature VBB. I won't judge you if you choose this.
