Icelandic folklore
This is the story of an old woman who traps her dying husband's ghost in a bag and carries it off to heaven. It is a comic folk tale, full of exaggerated characters and plain home truths. This richly illustrated edition will delight children and adults alike.
Icelandic folk tales represent an ancient oral tradition. They have been retold time and time again, and form part of the heritage that each Icelander recognizes as his own. Entertaining and instructive at once, they grant the reader a glimpse of old Iceland and the Icelanders' folk beliefs.
Illustrations: Gylfi Gíslason
English translation: Jón Proppé
Forlagið 1992
- Today's purchase from Kontti, the flea market of the Finnish Red Cross, in Itäkeskus (1,50 €).

Quite funny and nice story of a clever woman taking care of her husband until his death and beyond :D It was fascinating to learn about the Icelandic mythology when I visited the island (over 10 years ago). All the Nordic countries are definitely not alike ;)
With the book I'm participating two challenges on the Finnish BC forum: "Helmet-lukuhaaste 2019" and "Maailman ympäri kirja kerrallaan 2019".

Kiitos kirjasta!
