The Bedford Boys

This is a great account of one small town in Virginia, Bedford and its contribution to World War II. No other town has given so much proportionately in terms of those who served and their family and friends at home. It is a very detailed account yet reads like a novel, flows very well. One thing I noticed is how much more prominently poetry played a role then, than it does now. This book is very well written. It is gritty yet displays incredible Humanity. There is realism without glorification.
