Book burble: Which is stronger, Truth or Money?
Passionate and naïve, Cameron Wilde is the most brilliant young scientist of her generation. She believes she can change the world – until one day her career is inexplicably ruined. Bryn Hughes, a battle-hardened banker, can guess the reason why. On a snowy winter’s night in Boston, an extraordinary alliance is born. He wants money, she wants truth, but first of all they have to survive. The race is on: one tiny company at war against a hundred billion dollars.
Which will win, Truth or Money?
Praise for The Money Makers [2000]
‘Breathless tension…I was hooked’ Amanda Castleman, Oxford Times
‘Compulsively readable and absolutely un-put-downable’ Editior’s review, Amazon.co.uk
‘A fast-moving story of greed and redemption’ Elizabeth Grice, Daily Telegraph
‘A thrilling grown-up fairy tale’ Evening Standard
SWEET TALKING MONEY by HARRY BINGHAM (2001) | ISBN: [label stuck on book back] 0007649908 / 9780007649907 (UK PB) ISBN: [inside book] 0006513557| Publisher: HarperCollins
NB Fizz, hiss, gurr… Google insisted there was no such book as this, so did not come up with any cover picture. Being keen on visual images I wanted an accurate, UK publication, cover picture appended to this record so I’ve copied and added in the cover illustration on this book. Happy now! :)

Saw Harry Bingham’s name on the spine and snapped this up to buy before even reading the book burble. I’ve read Bingham’s TALKING TO THE DEAD (2012) the first of the Fiona Griffiths series and was so impressed by that it didn’t occur to me not to buy this.
Notably screaming tension here and I would say un-put-downable but frankly the tension was so fierce I had to turn a few times to more restful reading material. So I found I was in a bit of a plate spinning circus of a reading circle as I covered three books at a time and each book had its own draws but for sure the pace of SWEET TALKING MONEY kept me speeding through all the books. Characterisations I liked, a wild plot, which though it incorporated some challenging ethical and moral issues along the way also launched into some enterprising yet dodgy shenanigans. I presumed, judging from the title this was going feature the banking industry and was intrigued that it also rollicked around in the pharmaceutical industry. Neither are arena’s I would normally expect to be reading about with such steadfastness but Bingham easily kept his writing compelling.
The Evening Standard quote ‘A thrilling grown-up fairy tale’ fits as neatly to this novel as it did for its predecessor. It’s a pleasure to recommend others to Bingham’s work and in fact I have rustled up some interest from two other readers happy to check this out next.

SWEET TALKING MONEY - changed hands again - Thu 4th Jul and soon to be posted to its next reader.
Already arrived at its destination with birthday celebrant, honorary BookCrosser Mr Flutterbies9, posted THU 18 JUL 2019. At last my release notes for this with apologies for the delay which has held up the 'caught' journal entries.
Apologies, this book has been waiting in a pile of birthday books which in turn were awaiting labels (and some reviews) to be completed. This, however was a mistake as this book did have a label and could have been journaled earlier. Apologies and off to Mr Flutterbies9's tbr of birthday books etc.
May 2023.
Found in a bag of books which Mr Flutterbies 9 said he had read. Unfortunately he did not recall much about this other than it was fast paced. Sorry. Sending out in a bookbox for further adventures.
