I got this hardcover at the local library's ongoing book sale, struck by the mosaic on the cover. (It's a detail from an actual trompe l'oeil Greek mosaic, "The Unswept Floor".) The book delves into a number of classical sources - including fiction - to try and pin down the actual lifestyles of the classical Greeks, from banquets to sexual behavior to politics and economics. I appreciated some of the extrapolations from surviving plays and poetry, though the author delved a bit too deeply into the price of fish for my taste {wry grin}.

I left this book in the Little Free Library; hope someone enjoys it!
