I think I bought this book from The Book Depository some years ago.

I read the book years ago as well, I don't remember all that much about it, but I liked it well enough. An interesting idea and pretty well carried out. However, it is the first in a trilogy and I haven't gotten around to getting hold of the sequel yet, so I obviously wasn't hooked. :-)
