English title ''This Rock''. This book translated into Dutch.
Setting: Appalachia. A work of fiction which includes themes associated with Appalachian culture. Some themes in the book are religion, importance of family and community, strong work ethic, and familism.
I enjoyed the story although it was in places (in my opinion) too longwinded. In other places it was too abruptly ended. The writing style of the author is not my favorite.
My favorite charachter is Hank, a neighbor, who really wanted and tried to make a difference in the life of the main charachter, Muir.
