This paperback was among the books donated to the Nashua Public Library and allocated for distribution to the Little Free Libraries in town.

I think I first read this when a shorter version was published in McCall's magazine lo these many years ago, but I've re-read it often since, always with pleasure. It's a refreshingly tart Christmas story, wildly funny and sweet... and introducing the so-bad-they're-delightful (as long as YOU don't have to live near them) Herdmans, who appear in a couple of sequels as well.

I left this book in the Little Free Library in the park on this chilly day, while on a pre-snowstorm release run (and after picking up some cannoli cupcakes at Benson Bakery on the way). Hope someone enjoys it!
