I got this slim hardcover from the ongoing book sale at the Nashua public library. It's about the Icelandic myth of the "Yule Lads", the 13 sons of the giant troll Gryla, each of which has his own oddly-specific niche in the mythology. Some of these are more humorous than others, while some are fairly grim; among the latter is the myth of the Yule Cat, a gigantic feline that seeks out children who did not receive new clothing for Christmas, and... devours the children! Not fair, that; surely it should devour the parents who didn't provide the clothing? Or maybe that's not fair either... Anyway, it's a colorful and unusual winter-festival mythology, and I enjoyed reading about it. [Not least because I came across another book recently that touched on the same myths, Dorothy Claes and the Prowl of the Yule Cat.]
I'd planned to wild-release this book, but then I found that it's apparently in great demand, so I offered it for sale online and got an immediate offer. Mailed it to the buyer in Alabama. Enjoy!
