Alice is a woman who has it all, good job, relationship. She leaves everything behind to run off with her new boyfriend, a famous mountaineer, even though she doesn't know anything about him. He soon turns violent and obsessive. This seems the moment for Alice to run away again, but she doesn't. It's called a novel of obsession, and that's certainly what it was. During sex he sometimes hurts her and three women in his life died accidental deaths. The woman turns detective and her fears come true.

I really did have mixed feelings about this book, I did enjoy it and couldn't put it down but overall felt it lacked plausibility.

The story only gets interesting, and mildly so at that, in the final 40% of the book. Overall not for me.
