This book is good fun to read. I had a couple of minor quibbles: the Manc cockyness got a little bit tiresome after a while. Lots of sneering at The South, jazz and the liberal middle class. He manages to have a pop at both Birmingham, the place where I live, and Hebden Bridge, the place where I grew up. Also, he repeatedly tells the reader that they should read more, which is funny considering who I'm passing this book on to. How many books have you read this year, LyzzyBee?
