Rebus becomes involved in another cold case (now at no.22 in the series) at the request of DI Siobhan Clark who was once mentored by Rebus. It's a pity that Ian Rankin had retired Rebus in Exit Music (no.17) because I am not sure that Rebus in retirement really works that well. I don't much like how he has become and he is now suffering from COPD. Perhaps Rankin has future plans for an Exit Music2 and Edinburgh gangster Big Ger Cafferty will dispose of him at his pig farm like some of his other hapless victims.

Book to be left in the beautiful cottage for somebody else to enjoy reading it
