"Let them eat brains!" How could I resist this zombies-in-the-French-court manga? Got it at Barnes and Noble today. (It's by the author of Afterschool Charisma.)

Later: While the artwork's good and the story often scary, I found it difficult to attach to any of the characters - not least because the most sympathetic ones seem to die quite quickly. The "mort-vivants" (the raised dead) keep popping up, some apparently via the traditional zombie-plague and others by the deliberate work of those who can't bear to let a child stay dead - even if it does Come Back Wrong.

The idea of a cross-dressing character and the whole Marie Antoinette intrigue reminded me of the manga Rose of Versailles, which may have been an inspiration for this - but of course when you add zombies, everything changes!

I left this book in this handsome Little Free Library on this windy, rainy Halloween; hope someone enjoys it!
