I got this softcover from the book-swap shelf in the Tyngsboro MA post office lobby, for another release copy.

I'd seen the 1996 film adaptation when it came out (due primarily to a raging crush on Ralph Fiennes {wry grin}), and read the book not long after that. And... I liked it, but didn't quite love it. As with the film, Kip the Sikh was my favorite character, though the most wrenching scene was the one in which Almasy, trying to find help for the wounded Katharine, is captured and imprisoned, as he realizes what this means for her {shudder}... But I wasn't very keen on the whole love-triangle, as I found the characters more interesting when they were at death's door than when they were flirting or being jealous. Maybe it's just me {wry grin}.

I left this book, bagged against the elements, on a bench in the little square among all the holiday decorations; hope someone enjoys it!
