Disney's MOANA had been in a compartment at the back of my mind until now. The other day after a relative referenced it, I saw the 2016 film would be leaving Netflix soon. So when this book came across my path at the crowded Thanksgiving grocery, the only one left in the MOANA display, I decided to get it. It is just an abridgment of the Disney movie. I will have to see the film to really understand. So I'll stream the film sometime this weekend and then pass this Little Golden Book along. I love Hawaii and the Hawaiian people so I hope I'll be more impressed with the movie than I am with this book.
Friday after Thanksgiving: The film opened on Thanksgiving two years ago so I watched it on its anniversary evening. The animation was spectacular and the voice actors-singers were wonderful; I was entertained. For early readers who are fans of the movie, this book is probably a good choice. I am glad that running across this book finally inspired me to investigate the film. I'm giving this book an average rating, though I'm sure an early reader who loves the film would be more enthusiastic. The film deserves high ratings for its animation and great performances.
