Historical books are not always my type of thing, but this came as a pleasant surprise and was a very readable book. The storyline was an interesting one that had me fairly gripped and although the twists and turn were a little obvious at times I didn’t feel it detracted from the story. My two gripes were that Nella seemed older and wiser than her actual young age, altough I realise circumstances meant she had to grow up pretty quickly. The other was that the miniaturist who the book is titled after played a fairly minor role within the book and I felt this could have been explored far more. I’m intrigued to see the adaptation now and I have another book by this author sat on my shelf so look forward to checking it out.
