The Historically Annotated Legend of Sleepy Hollow

Picked this up as a unique and functional souvenir from a Halloween weekend trip to Sleepy Hollow.
I spent the most recent Halloweekend in Sleepy Hollow, to enjoy the festivities in and around Tarrytown. While there, I picked up this historically annotated version of the original Legend of Sleepy Hollow as a fun souvenir.
I've heard the legend of the Headless Horseman, and of course I've seen the TV and movie adaptations of the tale, but I don't think I'd ever read the actual short story before. As others here have mentioned, the author has quite a lot of flowery prose and not a whole lot of substance - but it was still enjoyable to read. Certainly the TV shows and movies have extrapolated quite a bit, as the written story isn't nearly as substantial as they portray it to be. Gotta love creative license :)
Anyhow, I also enjoyed the historical comments from the local historian. It was interesting to pinpoint where some of the places mentioned in the story are in modern-day Sleepy Hollow/Tarrytown, and to read about some of the other historical tidbits that are relevant.
Overall, a quick and interesting read.
