Journal Entry 1 by wingGoryDetailswing from Nashua, New Hampshire USA on Monday, November 12, 2018
I found this paperback in the charity-sale bin at Hannaford's and nabbed it for another release copy.

I've enjoyed nearly every Wharton work I've read, and while this one isn't one of my favorites it was still well worth reading. It's a frustrating, heart-breaking account of a well-brought-up young man who's tempted to kick over the traces of his carefully-managed life, and what ensues. At times I could actually feel the walls closing in on him, not physical walls but none the less solid for all that...

[It inspired a 1993 film that's very good. There's a TV Tropes page on the book and the film, with some entertaining tidbits.]
