Slowly going through my pile of books from the BC convention. I guess in some way I am extending the fun and sweet memories by taking a while to unwrap all the gifts. : )

Thank you so much for this wishlist book! Sounds perfect now that we may be having a BC con in Finland.

So glad to have read this excellent book! While I as a city girl may not enjoy living on a small, quiet, remote and cold island so close to nature, I like how Jansson lovingly describe the life there, and the interaction between the grandmother and child. The moments will feel very idyllic and blissful, but Sophia's sudden bursts will remind me that she is a child who is suffering the loss of her mother, and fearful of the impermanence of life. BTW, seriously, what's up with the father? He is mostly in the background and doesn't get to utter a word in the whole book!

Thanks again ApoloniaX, for the lovely RABCK. It was great getting to spend time with you in Berlin, and this book may make me consider braving the cold and attend the Finland BC con in two years.

Meanwhile, this book will be traveling to fulfill another wish.
