This is not an ordinary book: it's a BookCrossing book! BookCrossing books are world travelers - they like to have adventures and make new friends...and every once in a while they even write home to say what they've been doing.

Nijntje / Miffy / うさこちゃん rides the train to the zoo with her father and sees parrots, zebras, kangaroos, elephants, monkeys, giraffes, and a tortoise.
I can't resist Dick Bruna, so I picked up this little hardback at the Regency Park garage sale (larger photo here.)...and once again proved to myself that my Japanese vocabulary is fairly pathetic. At least I recognized most of the animal names (ok, not おうむ, which looks like parrots).
The funniest thing about the book may be Father's mustache. :p
Translated by 石井 桃子 (いしい ももこ).
Here's another copy on my BookCrossing shelf.
