This is an incredibly ambitious first novel, and Parssinen delivers a big cast of fully-rendered, lovable and flawed characters. It's set in Saudi Arabia and many of the conflicts are particular to this place and culture - yet the humanity on displayed is far more universal. A vivid, moving book.
