WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Enjoy!
I was delighted to see so many books released at the library! They're all Advance Readers Copies - meaning that they aren't quite finished yet, sometimes missing maps or artwork, but are still readable. They're on a table in a room downstairs, and include review/recommendation forms that readers can use to let the library staff know whether they'd like to see the official copies added to the library's collection. I was drawn to this one by the cover-art, which suggests those awkward early-relationship woes - if you follow the images down the staircase - or a charming reconciliation if you follow them up {wry grin}. Seems the story's a time-travel one, too, a kind of "Groundhog Day" setup with one protagonist constantly being sent back to the same moment for yet another chance to fend off a tragic fate for his beloved. I've read a lot of fix-the-time-loop stories, and they... don't always end well. Will see how this author deals with it!
Later: Aside from the question as to how this time-loop came about (or whether it's all in Jack's head!), the story's a lively one - if often frustrating, as Jack's attempts to make things turn out differently for his new love have increasingly drastic effects on the other people in his life. The lessons he learns (and shares with the reader at the end) are good ones, though I think the time-loop situation might have had more impact if Jack himself got to decide whether he was satisfied with an outcome, rather than having The Powers That Be yank him back whenever his loop didn't work out just right.
