A memoir of the author's nurse and midwifery training in the 1950's. Very entertaining in parts and made me very glad that I did my own nurse training in the 1980's.

Received in the post today from Raeliz64 as a swap. Thanks very much. Really my kind of book and the author lives and worked very locally to me too which is a bonus.

REVIEW:-"I did quite enjoy this book with its interesting account of nurse training many decades ago. It did get slightly monotonous at times but I liked the fact that the author worked partly in my own home county of Norfolk so mentioned places I'm familiar with. I was a little shocked at her attitude towards a disabled lady with a cleft lip and palate, who she worked with and how she imitated her speech defect.
Some of the humour I found to be very old fashioned and dated although the author is only around 10 years older than me. I was fascinated by the account of pregnancy tests done by injecting South African toads with the urine of a possibly pregnant woman. Apparently if the lady was pregnant the toad laid eggs within 24 hours!"
Reserved for a friend.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

This book was lent to my friend Audrey today. She doesn't have computer access but always returns books to me after she has read them. She was delighted when I turned up today with two bags of books for her, socially-distancing of course, as the libraries are closed and she hasn't been able to find many decent books to buy in the supermarket she says.
6.9.2020 update. This book is now back with me and I intend to give it to my cousin later this month. She is an Essex girl.

If you join bookcrossing, which is free and spam-free, you can follow the book on its' travels as you will get an email each time it changes hands, but if you prefer to remain anonymous, that's fine too. Please also say what you intend to do with the book next. Thanks for coming onto the site to let me know you have found the book.

I already have books travelling in many countries around the world-a list can be found on my bookcrossing profile.

When re-releasing this book please be aware that airports are not a good place to leave books unless they have a specific book exchange shelf or area, due to security problems, so they may well just be disposed of. Also charity shops may well discard books that have been labelled in any way and they mostly chose only the books in the very best condition
to place on their shelves and discard the rest-so another bad release option.
