Purchased in a charity shop in Mold, North Wales, UK.
Ali Land graduated from university with a degree in Mental Health, and spent a decade working as a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Nurse in both hospitals and schools in the UK and Australia. Though a voracious reader from a young age and a keen observer of the world, it took Ali over thirty years to put pen to paper but she sure is glad she did! Ali's debut novel Good Me Bad Me will be translated into twenty-four languages. It was short-listed for two Dead Good Reader Awards, short-listed by the Crime Writers Association for the John Creasey New Blood Dagger, short-listed for the Glass Bell Award for Contemporary Fiction, and won Book Of The Year at Heat magazine Unmissables Awards. It's also a New York Times Editors choice and a Richard and Judy book club pick.
Ali is now a full-time writer and lives in London and is currently working on her second novel.

About the Book: Published 2017
Milly's mother is a serial killer. Though Milly loves her mother, the only way to make her stop is to turn her in to the police. Milly is given a fresh start: a new identity, a home with an affluent foster family, and a spot at an exclusive private school. But Milly has secrets, and life at her new home becomes complicated. As her mother's trial looms, with Milly as the star witness, Milly starts to wonder how much of her is nature, how much of her is nurture, and whether she is doomed to turn out like her mother after all. When tensions rise and Milly feels trapped by her shiny new life, she has to decide: Will she be good? Or is she bad? She is, after all, her mother's daughter.

My Review:
There seems to be a lot of debut novels in the wake of some of the big hitters, and some of them stand up to expectations of those that came before them have set for readers, and some do not.
This one.....I'm on the fence a little.
I liked the plot of a child in care and her mother being a serial killer, but I felt it missed its real potential of being a real hard hitter, which was a shame.
Would be interesting to read more from the author to see if their writing develops.
(I always add physical postage stamps to my packages. If you are not a collector yourself, check out the I collect postage stamps because... thread to find them a happy home.)

I didn't quite like how the author's writing style, so I gave up and read a plot summary.
