3 journalers for this copy...
I love Jackie Kay's writing and this memoir is an excellent example of how wonderful it is. She has had such an interesting life. I picked this copy up second hand to bookcross.
And off it goes in a Christmas parcel to a mystery destination. Happy reading!

I enjoyed this much more than Why Don't You Stop Talking! I found the birth parents a bit disappointing, thank heavens for the adoptive parents who seem amazing! The ending made me feel really happy, and I thought the book was structured well. I don't always like it when books skip back and forward in time, but it was super clear about when things happened, and even if they happened within close time periods it was still pretty clear whether what Jackie was talking about had happened before or after previously discussed events. Partly hilarious, partly heartbreaking, definitely recommended.

I picked this up at Hillis restaurant, while dining with other bookcrossers.

An interesting read from an author who knows how to create a story. The birth parents are held at lengths end, the reason is religion (and they do sound like they are seeking solice in ritual), but I ponder how much the story makes it easier for the author to have ”good” and “bad” people in her life story.

If you aren't familiar with Bookcrossing, take a few minutes to check out this very cool site. Bookcrossers LOVE books, and more than anything, they love to read books and then set them free for other people to find and enjoy. I would love it if you would leave a journal entry -- you can say where you found the book or how you liked it when you read it.
